Hello and Welcome to La Prairie Étoilée

We are Simon and Nadine and we’ll be waiting with a warm welcome whenever you come to stay! But how did we come to be glamping in France with a new life in the sun?
We set off on this amazing journey to create La Prairie Étoilée – well – because we have always LOVED camping, great food and good company!
We were ready for a new adventure; to create somewhere where we and our guests could spend quality time in nature, eat great food and drink good wine!
And so it will be no surprise to discover that the plan for La Prairie Étoilée was hatched on the way home from a European camping trip in summer 2017 – just the two of us, our little Fiat 500 and all our camping gear in the back.
By the time we got home to Northumberland, we’d decided; we were going to pack up our busy lives in the UK and move to France for a new life in the sun!
Nadine had spent 26 years in the UK civil service as a project manager and business analyst and Simon had retrained as a chef a few years prior, in anticipation of a life less ordinary. We didn’t know at this point that we would end up on TV!
Finding The Place For Glamping In France And A New Life In The Sun
By the following Easter we had found just the perfect place. We viewed a modest farmhouse in L’Indre in the Centre-Val Loire region of France, not far from the departmental border of La Creuse.
The house sat in 2.5 acres of perfectly flat meadow and had two further fields of 7.5 acres, just a hop skip and a jump across the lane.
And the moment we walked into the meadow – we just knew. This was it; this was the absolutely right place for us and our future guests.
In October 2019 we moved lock stock & barrel to France. Since then we have been renovating our house and getting everything in place to safely welcome guests. And here we are, doing what we dreamt of!
We believe we have created a real get-away-from-it-all glamping experience; a truly special place where you can unplug form the everyday, recharge your batteries and reconnect with each other. And so far, our guests have thought so too! You can read what they have said about their stays here but we’d love you to come and see for yourselves!
We hope this will be a place you return to again and again.
If you have any questions about a stay at La Prairie Étoilée or this beautiful, yet off the beaten track location, please do get in touch.
À bientôt!
Simon and Nadine
