Frequently Asked Questions

If you are wondering "What to bring glamping?" Check here for the answer to this and other glamping related questions!

Yes they have two large doors and two windows, each with a mesh bug screen layer.  There’s also a mesh vent that runs the full circumference of the tent and two large roof vents for maximum ventilation.  Bedside fans are provided for extra comfort.  The stargazer tent has a curtain to cover the clear roof panels to keep the sun out during the day.

The tents are pitched on a wooden platform and inside are natural coir carpets,  so they are both firm and comfortable underfoot.

The tents are 5m diameter.  Their unique bulbus shape means that unlike regular bell tents, they are very spacious with great head height (3m high at the peak!) and incredibly light and airy.

Everything is chosen with comfort and luxury in mind; gel pillows, quality memory foam topped matress, microfibre quilts & 400 count egyption cotton linens and if you want a lie in in the morning, well that’s totally understandable!

Large Fluffy bath sheets, hand towels and pool towels are provided per stay.  Bring beach towels for the lake or hire them with a parasol for the day!

The tents are named after a famous local 19th Century writer called Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin, although she is best known by her pen name George Sand

The wildflower meadow where the tents are possitioned is not accesible by car.  Allocated parking is provided in the car park but don’t worry, help is available with your luggage!  And this also means there’s no noise from car doors and boots shutting.

Yes, we have a store for bikes, bring your bike locks to secure them or you can hire tandems on site for a great, fun way to explore the local area.

We provide a starter pack for the campfire of logs, charcoal, kindling  and firelighters, everything you need to get the campfire burning!  You can buy more from us or the local supermarkets.  For safety reasons, the use of foraged wood is not permitted

A dry or composting toilet is an ecologically sound alternative to a flushing toilet.  Instead of flushing with water you “flush” with a generous layer of sawdust which is much more environmentally friendly!   Dry, or composting toilets only smell if solids and liquids mix.  We use urine separaters to keep the liquids away.  This does mean everyone must sit to pee but no smells!  The contents are removed between guests and composted remotely, so your loo will be all shiny and new!  And after 2 years, we get to use the compost on our newly planted woodland!

The temperature at night will drop but residual heat from the day will generally maintain an ambient temperature inside the tent.  The beds also have micro fibre duvets to keep you warm if it’s cold and cool if it’s hot!   For cooler nights, not that you need an excuse, snuggle up together!  Add layers to the bed or you!  There’s a throw and spare quilt for the bed and bring cosy pyjammas or lounge wear for extra warmth (also ideal for lazy mornings!).  New for 2023 are logburners within the tents.  If you want to cosy up in the evenings before bed this is the perfect way to do it!

There are also hot water bottles so you can warm the bed before you get in!  For those hot summer nights, as the beds are dressed with a top sheet, just cast off the duvet.  Bedside fans will help keep you cool and you can open the doors and windows, leaving the mesh layer in place, to allow more air to circulate.

You don’t need to bring bedding or towels – almost everything you need is here waiting for you; even the kitchen sink – check out the inventory here to see what’s included!  So, all you need to bring are clothes, your bathing suit, swimming shoes, suncream, sunglasses and perhaps, bug spray.  Early or later on in the season you might want a wet suit to swim in the lakes.  Walking boots or training shoes for hikes and river walks and a light rain jacket – just in case!  If you have bikes, kayaks, paddle boards etc and you want to bring them, do – but as we are off grid, there will be no need for a hairdryer!
