Amongst other things, food was one of the reasons we came to France, both on holiday, in previous years and then to live.
Here in France, food is an occasion and the opportunity to gather and share a meal is seized daily; its a ritual.
And meals here are not rushed - this is a slow food nation; both the food and company is savoured.
Here at La Prairie Étoilée good food is very important to us too!
Through our love of the gastronomique and Simon being a experienced chef, we have ensured that, throughout your stay, there are plenty of options available when it comes to those three most important meals of the day!
We can provide beaux breakfasts, perfect picnics and delicious dinners for when you don't want to cook and BBQ packs, recipe cards and ingredients for when you do!
There are also traditional markets, independent artisan shops and good old supermarkets for grocery shopping.
And plenty of places to eat out in the surrounding towns and villages.
Indre even has a Michelin starred restaurant if you really want to indulge and its just happens to be in the most romantic village of all, Saint Valentin!
All in all - a foodie feast to behold!
Our "Great Start" light continental breakfast is included in your stay and will be delivered to your tent each morning.
And for when you want an altogether more decadent, slow start to your day, upgrade to one of our "Luxurious Leisurely" breakfast hampers where you can make your selections from our a la carte breakfast menu and really savour the morning.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and low carb options are available!
Whether you are staying local or venturing further afield, finding the perfect spot for a picnic is all part of the adventure. We can prepare a scrumptious alfresco lunch for you to take on your travels.
Mealtimes in France are an occassion and a picnic is a great way to make lunch just that!.
All our picnics come with picnic bag/basket, rug, ice packs, plates, cuttlery & glasses to picnic in style!
Our picnics for two vary in content but typically may include:
Table d'hôtes literally means "the hosts" table. And you will be very welcome at ours!

With wine, or soft drinks.
Its a casual, sociable affair - the two key ingredients being good food and good company - with everyone contributing to the latter!
Let us know about any dietry requirements in advance and we will do our very best to adjust our menu accordingly!
We are licenced to serve wine, beer, perry etc.
This area of France is famous for its beef, our closest neighbours are Charolais and Limousin cows in the fields around us.
We have an organic producer less that 5 km away who we are partnering with to bring you the best steaks and burgers for your barbecue, available to order.
Taking another local delicacy, we have devised a delicious green lentil burger with vegetable kebabs. The burger may be vegan but it's very meaty!
We have a range of campfire cooking recipe cards. We can provide you with all the ingredients so you don't have to shop; just enjoy the experience of cooking together in the great outdoors.
Channel your inner Julia Child and try a boeuf borguinon, a coq au vin or the summer vegetable stew classic, ratatouille, in your traditional dutch oven!
Cooking on the campfire is all part of the fun and experience of glamping. You have all the pots and utensils you need and a starter pack of wood and charcoal is provided to get you going (more available to purchase at reception!)
If you are stuck for ideas as to what to cook, we have a number of recipe cards to refer to and instructions "how to" - and we'll gladly give you some pointers!
There are lots of great restaurants in the surrounding towns and villages. You will often find the best value with the lunchtime menus. You generally need to book.
There are 15 that are listed in the Michelin guide, one of those has a Michelin Star, but there are also plenty more authentic little eateries dotted about the area.
